Work meeting at “Trepça” mine in Stantërg

At the request of the Ambassador of Hungary, Laszlo Markusz, Board of the Independent Commission for Mines and Minerals, on 11.07.2017, organized a visit, respectively a working meeting at the Trepça Stantërg mine.

The meeting was held in the mining directorate, where from ICMM at the meeting were present Musa Shabani, Chairman of the Board and Board members: Kemajl Zeqiri, Avdi Konjuhi and

Festim Kutllovci, and from the mine at this meeting was present the Director of the mine Mr. Qazim Jashari and the engineer Mr. Hamëz Hamëza.

After being informed with the history and timeline of the production of this mine, the Ambassador was also informed about the resources and other reserves of Pb-Zn in Kosovo.
Among other things, the Ambassador was informed about the conditions and the difficulties the mine is being faced, and Trepça as a corporation in general, as well as the progress achieved in maintaining the mine structure and the functionality of the mine technological lines.

From its part, the ICMM Board informed the Ambassador about the institutional structure and the mining legal framework in the country, the progress and the challenges of developing this industry in the country.

On his part, the Ambassador stressed the importance that have mineral resources for economic development, stressing that Kosovo has a mining potential that should, as soon as possible, be put to the function of the country’s economic development, promising to work to increase cooperation between the Hungarian mining institutions and our country. Also, the Ambassador stressed that he would contact and inform Hungarian companies about the potential and mining opportunities offered by Kosovo.

The delegation after the end of the meeting also visited the state museum of crystals in Stantërg.
