Meeting of the ICMM with the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure

Senior officials of the ICMM, Mrs Selvete Grajçevci – Pllana, Chairwoman of the Board and Mr Jahir Gashi, Member of the Board, have met with the Deputy Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure Mrs Linda Çavdarbasha.

Mrs Selvete Grajçevci – Pllana thanked the Deputy Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Mrs Linda Çavdarbasha, for the meeting as a result of institutional support that the works in mining sector especially the environmental protection, development of procedures for licenses are permit to be in the acceptable level and in compliance with applicable law.

During the meeting, the parties expressed the concerns that these two institutions are facing with and it was decided in principle that the review of applications for licenses and permits within completion of documentation such as consents and environmental permits to be with a high priority since the ICMM was with a Board for a long period of time and that there are many applications waiting to be reviewed. Many other important issues were discussed at the meeting and both sides agreed that a Memorandum of Cooperation between the ICMM and MESPI will be for the benefit of both institutions and indispensable to continue the cooperation as well in the future.

During the meeting, the parties specified as well drafting of the joint commission for the recultivation of the field of mines for expired licenses, cooperation and support of professional staff by the MESPI to draft the sublegal acts directly related to inter-institutional inspections in compliance with the Law on Mines and Minerals.

In the end of the meeting, both institutions expressed readiness to continue with next meetings in order to achieve the objectives for a sustainable development in mining sector where the mutual cooperation is for the benefit of the environment and mining enterprises.
